Frequently Asked Questions
The VoiceDialer costs $4.99 and is available for purchase through the Apple AppStore.
The Voice Dialer is a native iPhone 2.0 application and can be obtained using your
iPhone from the Apple Application Store
(
The Voice Dialer application is very simple to use. After launching the application, (a) hold down
the green phone button until it turns blue; (b) speak the first and last name of the contact you
wish to dial (you must use both a first and last name); and (c) release the phone button after completely
speaking the contact name. Within a few seconds, the contact will be presented to you for dialing.
Yes, the Voice Dialer works great in noisy environments. Simply hold the phone closer to your mouth (as
in inches away) and speak normally (or even softly if you want to be discreet). Our advanced speech
recognition software will amplify your voice and ignore the noise to do its best at selecting the correct contact.
In previous beta releases of the Voice Dialer, you needed to speak both the first and last name of a contact (i.e.
single name contacts were not searched for). Now, with the August 4th, 2008 release of beta version 0.9.5,
if your contact only has a first or last name filled in, the Voice Dialer will use it. If your contact has
both a first and last name, you must still say both for the Voice Dialer to match.
The Voice Dialer uses your contact information to form phonetic descriptions used by our speech
recognition technology. This phonetic information is stored and accessed to perform speech recognition
only. We never and will never upload any telephone numbers, postal addresses, email addresses, notes,
or any other personal information.

When you speak a contact name,
your iPhone uses our state-of-the-art voice recognition web services to translate your
spoken words into computer text that your iPhone can understand directly. The Voice
Dialer then looks up the desired contact using this text, and presents you with
the option of making the call.
The Voice Dialer application is in its final beta. This means that our engineers
are still tuning the acoustic models used to translate your voice into text that the
your iPhone can understand. These models are updated on a daily basis, and you will
continue to notice significant improvements in accuracy during this final beta period.
